To Unravel the Day



One’s rise to power

No foreshadowing could foretell

That even the world would glower

Or walk into the depths of hell

The return to the end

The end that never came to pass

But in its stead, revenge to rend

As the grass faltered and flattered

And bowed before the one



Unseen

No mystic could reveal

The bells that rung, and rung and rung

In deceit to rejuvenate and heal

But stopped, and the ringing no longer sung

But clanked and cried in this reestablished order



Swiftly

No agency of man or God could deter

The horrors to befall

For power, for glory; murder

Like a little voodoo doll

Swiftly the pin goes in; further

Swiftly the souls therein

Decay



Grass in the scorching sun

No more dread

But raging judgment

And flowing red

Oh, the flowing red, red, red



The red

Smeared away

In the night, no trace, nor sign

And angels unraveling the day

Freedom, relinquished by the flood

Dark hearts still willing to pray

That hell gives up these tides of blood
